Aisha Muhammed-Oyebode has over 20 years of experience advancing the cause of women and girls as a development specialist, human rights activist, and international NGO expert. She serves as the CEO of the Murtala Muhammed Foundation, dedicated to improving the quality of life of Africans. The Foundation specifically focuses on engendering self-reliance and fulfillment by working tirelessly on policy and advocacy for issues that impact on ethics, equity, good governance and economic empowerment, encouraging business development, education and providing medium term disaster relief.

As a seasoned entrepreneur, she also serves as the Group CEO of Asset Management Group Limited, a real estate development and management firm, specialising in both luxury and mass housing.

Aisha is the board Chair of Lekoil Limited, an African oil and gas exploration company which currently holds interests offshore Nigeria. The company was established in response to the changes currently sweeping through the African oil industry – particularly the growing trend towards regulation and actions that support domestic participation in the oil industry.

Aisha is a board member of the Women’s Leadership Board of the Women and Public Policy Programme at the Harvard Kennedy School, a member of the University of Pennsylvania Law Global Women’s Leadership Initiative, and advisor to the United States Institute of Peace in Nigeria.

She bagged an LLM in Public International Law, an MBA in Finance, and an MPhil Law from the University of London’s King’s College, Imperial College and School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) respectively. As a trained lawyer she is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, she is also an educator with experience teaching master’s students including at SOAS, as a teaching fellow in Hausa language structure, framework, and translation. As an activist both in and out of the boardroom, Aisha is passionate about positive change and empowering Africans to reach their full potential.
