Proscovia Nabbanja is the CEO of the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC). Uganda National Oil Company Limited (UNOC) is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda. Their overall function is to handle the government of Uganda’s commercial interests in the petroleum sector and to ensure that the resource is used in a sustainable manner.

As CEO, she provides oversight of all the company’s activities and its subsidiaries. She also develops and executes the company’s corporate strategy and plans, identifies and proposes commercially viable investments across the petroleum value chain.

Proscovia Nabbanja has over 23 years of experience, with strategic responsibilities in molding Uganda’s petroleum sector and stationing the country as a critical player in the global energy landscape.

As former Head of the Technical Division in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, her professionalism was key in influencing major projects, including spearheading important reviews of field development plans.

A feat that remains laudable for her till date was steering UNOC through crucial negotiations of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), ensuring synergies that solidified Uganda’s place in the regional energy sector.

Through her leadership, the Upstream and EACOP Projects reached the final investment decision, securing major milestones in Uganda’s petroleum industry, driven by her strategic decisions and ability to secure essential investments and partnerships.

Nabbanja’s commitment to exploration and unlocking Uganda’s natural resources is evident in her acquisition of an exploration license over the Kasuruban Contract Area during the second licensing round. Her unwavering determination to capitalise on Uganda’s oil and gas potential contributes to the country’s energy security and economic development.

Proscovia Nabbanja  is committed to Uganda’s petroleum industry’s growth and sustainable development as the forerunner of the organisation. She has become a positive force to reckon with in her country and in the energy industry as a whole.
